fordFord Motor Co. announced that plans to introduce an electric car in North America until 2011.

The model will use lithium-ion batteries and will resist on the road about 160 kilometers with one charge, said Derrick Kuzak, head of development department. This car will have almost the same size as the Focus model.

For Ford this environment-friendly model would be an upsetting situation, because in June, the company will invest in this vehicle only if it proves that there is demand. However the worldwide producers,  including General Motors Corp., Chrysler and Toyota Motor Corp. are rushing to produce an electric model.

In a presentation at the South America Auto Show, Ford announced that its next generation of hybrid vehicles include an electric version until 2012. In addition, the producer plans to develop a truck powered by an electric battery until 2010.
