Touareg BlueMotion Hybrid will be launched by 2010

hibridVolkswagen has launched this week the prototype of a Touareg BlueMotion Hybrid, equipped with an gas engine and assisted by an electric unit. A production version could be launched by 2010.

This SUV have 374 horsepower and a V6 TSI engine. The electric unit which delivers 52 horsepower, is powered by a nickel battery, located under the car’s trunk.

The hybrid can run only with the electric motor, but the autonomy is reduced and the maximum speed that can reach is 50 km / h, being perfect for the urban traffic.

When running only with the electric motor, the driver can control its operation using a special clutch.
