Floating Habitats Powered by Solar and Wind Energy – A Glance of Hope For The Future

Increasingly more people are concerned about global warming seeking new solutions to combat it. Scientists have confirmed that due to global warming, the antarctic glaciers melt down rapidly and this will affect our life.
But the future is promising because a collective of New York based artists will launch in May 2009 a floating habitat, 100% eco, to support a fully sustainable community, this eco-habitat is called Waterpod.
This habitat(Waterpod) is built from a combination of recycled fabric, metal, wood, plastic and other many materials, being a triple-domed island. The construction is build for many other activities like: eco-initiatives, alternative energy, vertical agriculture and artistic activity. The food grown will be realized with purified water from the Hudson River.
Waterpod will powered by solar and wind energy. I think that this type of habitat will be the future and i guess that in 100 years we will live in such houses if the global warming will progress.
